Children's Cancer Research Fund hosted the 33rd annual Dawn of a Dream gala on November 2. Our generous donors helped us raise a record amount for pediatric cancer research - more than $1.5 million!
Fundraising experiences including a fabulous silent auction, the jewelry experience by Wedding Day Diamonds, golf experience by Rush Creek Golf Club and Wine Wall curated by our friends at France 44 Wine and Spirits.
A Dream Maker Award was presented posthumously to Dr. John Ohlfest who was known for his passion and brilliance in his quest to eradicate malignant brain tumors. His work has resulted in the development of two clinical trial vaccines that have proven to provide higher cure rates in children with brain cancer.
A second Dream Maker Award was also presented posthumously to Zack Sobiech who wrote and performed the viral hit “Clouds”, together with his band, A Firm Handshake, originally as a means to say “good bye” to his family and loved ones. His message of love ended up reaching the minds and hearts of millions around the world.
Jearlyn Steele and the Twin Cities Gospel Choir performed an amazing arrangement of Sobiech’s hit song “Clouds”.
We were introduced to a patient who received the largest stem cell dose given to any human in history! He recovered in 5 days when it normally takes 26 days! The U of MN is the only institution in the world conducting this ground-breaking clinical trial.
A fabulous live auction presented by Delta Air Lines that raised $311,500! Collecting the highest bid, at $35,000, was an exciting trip for two on an Africa Wilderness Safari.
Following dinner and the program, guests made their way into Club Cambria presented by Cambria for some late night snacks and dancing with DJ/VJ Mike Relm.
