Benefactors Circle Celebrates 22 Years

Benefactors Circle founders, Sharon and Joel Waller, along with son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jill Halper, hosted the 22nd annual dinner held on May 20. The event is held in honor of Sharon’s daughter JoBeth who battled and overcame a rare bone cancer when she was 8 years old.
Speaking at the event, Sharon shared that, “While research for every form of childhood cancer deserves our help, this year’s research project we’re supporting will go toward osteosarcoma research. Thirty-nine years ago, I was told that my daughter was going to die. At that time, the survival rate for osteosarcoma was 1 percent. Today, Jobi is a lawyer, wife, mother of three, and snow-boarding amputee. She beat the odds with a new treatment, developed in 1972, without which she wouldn’t be with us today.”
Generous donors & members of Benefactors Circle will continue to push osteosarcoma survival rates to new highs, thanks to more than $100,000 in donations. Thank you to Sharon & Joel Waller, Jill & Jon Halper, and the members and donors of the 2012 Benefactors Circle.
